From 19 August, all new lorries driving internationally within the EU must be equipped with Smart Tacho 2. This advanced tachograph replaces previous versions and offers better enforcement and extra safety on the road.
Among other things, the new tachograph records border crossings more accurately and supports the monitoring of rest and driving times. For international transporters, this is an important step towards more transparent supervision within Europe.
The obligation applies immediately to all new vehicles. For existing lorries, there will be a phased transition over the coming years.
